Sendai is easily accessed via shinkansen or connecting flights direct to Sendai Airport, and is the gateway to still relatively undiscovered northern Honshu.
Now fully recovered from the 2012 earthquake, Sendai is on a mission to attract more international visitors. It’s the largest city in Honshu north of Tokyo, big enough to offer fantastic shopping, restaurants and nightlife, but small enough to be much easier to negotiate.
